The Channel tunnel, finished in 1994 took several years to complete, but was an idea originating from hundreds of years ago. It has proved to be a viable alternative for commerce and carries millions of passengers a year (3.6m in 2003).
The Channel Tunnel is 50km long, with the 39km undersea section (lying on average 40m below the sea bed)being the longest undersea tunnel in the world.
In accordance with the Concession to operate the Channel Tunnel, Eurotunnel has submitted a proposal for a second Channel Tunnel. Consultancy and Advice on all steelwork related issues on Contract 230 and 250.
