Millenium Dome & Millenium Man
London
Category: Lesuire/Educational
Client: Tubeworkers (structures) Ltd
Country: United Kingdom
Period: 1998-2001
Main Contractor:

Opened in Greenwich January 1, 2001, the Millennium 'Dome' currently stands as the world’s largest dome at 320m in diameter, 50m high at its centre, and covering 20 acres. The London Underground station servicing this world-renowned attraction is also the largest of its kind in Europe. To emphasize the strength of the structure, the dome is able to support a Jumbo Jet, and is able to accommodate 35,000 visitors.

The Millennium Dome was unfortunately closed to the public only one year after its opening, and development plans for the site are ongoing.

Various NDT disciplines were employed throughout many stages of the project construction, for and on behalf of the main contractors, and liaising with the resident engineer on a day to day basis to ensure all went smoothly in the construction process.
